Health Atlas Ireland: Integrating data sets, GIS, statistics for health service planning, epidemiology, and incident management.

Health Atlas Ireland, a project from the Health Service Executive in Ireland (HSE), has been developed to bring health-related datasets, statistical tools and GIS together in a Web environment to add value to existing health data. Mel McIntyre (founder and Managing Director of OpenApp, a Dublin based IT service company) and Dr. Howard Johnson (of the Health Intelligence unit of the HSE) will discuss how Health Atlas Ireland was created through the integration of best-of-breed open source software projects and enables controlled access to maps, data and analyses to improve the health of patients, their families and the population.
